There’s more to breakout star Mikee Quintos than that angelic face and the natural acting chops.

The 19-year-old Kapuso actress, who starred as the young Lira in GMA-7’s recently concluded fantasy TV series Encantadia, isn’t just acing the showbiz game; she’s also thriving as an architecture student at the University of Santo Tomas.

A self- confessed “artsy” type, Mikee decided to pursue her passion for the arts because, though she comes from a family of doctors and lawyers, she just couldn’t see herself in either of those professions. Plus, she loves math. “I’d rather study math. May artistry pa din [ sa architecture], pero you’re a professional,” she said in an interview with GMAnetwork.com.

While juggling fame and academics surely is no easy feat, this mestiza teen makes it look effortless. But of course, she makes sure to swap her flashy diwata costume for more classroomworthy outfits when it’s time to switch to student mode.

Be inspired to ace your style game, too, with her back-to-school looks.•

lOOK 1 Skip the pleated skirts! Schoolgirl plaid can look chic, not juvenile, when you wear them on form-fitting pants. Pair it with a plain-colored top to provide contrast, and finish off with sleek heels.

lOOK 2 Give your basic jeans an edgy update by trading it for a distressed pair, which easily has more character. Balance it out with more coverage up top. Try a button-down shirt paired with a denim jacket for a cute retro vibe.
