Half of the fourth floor opens to a rooftop patio, which is easily the most pleasant area in the house. The four-seater dining table is ideal for alfresco breakfasts or late afternoon merienda. The plush sectional sofa at the farther end of the lanai can easily seat the entire family.
This is the facade of the four-story townhouse, which stands along a quiet street near New Manila and Cubao, Quezon City.
According to Mommy Susan, her husband Alvin once considered buying a more spacious home in faraway Parañaque. But she pointed out that the townhouse is “malapit sa lahat,” right smack in the middle of Quezon City. So instead of buying a new house, the Tengs renovated their townhouse instead.
The attic (left) is accessible through a ladder that drops down from the ceiling of the laundry room. On the other side of the rooftop, another space-saving device has been installed: a wallmounted laundry rack (right).
The basketball court right outside the front gate has been with the Teng family since the growing-up years of Jeric and Jeron.
