Kylie Padilla and her fiancé Aljur Abrenica are expecting their first child in the latter part of July: a boy!
On May 18, people close to Kylie and Aljur turned up at the Aruga by Rockwell hotel in Makati City to attend the baby shower and extend their greetings and best wishes to the baby on the way.
The 24-year-old actress originally wanted an intimate baby shower to celebrate the boy’s anticipated arrival, but her father, action star Robin Padilla, gave her instead a big party, organized by Robin’s wife, Mariel Rodriguez. Kylie got the idea for the baby shower theme— The Little
Prince, the children’s book by French writer and aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry—from her stepmother, Mariel. Last year, when Mariel herself was pregnant, she had fancied the theme for her own baby shower. That was until Mariel found out that she was carrying a baby girl, a little princess, whom she and Robin eventually named Maria Isabella.
Through Instagram, Kylie expressed her gratitude to Mariel with this message:
“Thank you to this amazing woman who made all of this happen. I really don’t know how to thank you enough for making magic happen for my baby’s baby shower from theme, to the guests, to the registry at mother care and even the setting up of the place. I can’t even fathom how much work you put into this night and even while taking care and being such a dedicated mother to baby Maria. Thank you again so much, even also for all the advice and all the help outside of the shower. Even Aj thanks you. I am blessed to have you there for me. Thank you tita @marieltpadilla ”
(If you’re wondering about the username, marieltpadilla, that comes from Mariel Rodriguez’s real name: Mariel Termulo-Padilla.)
Kylie Padilla was aglow in a flowy teal dress and fresh makeup, which she applied on herself. The mother-to-be held hands with her fiancé, actor Aljur Abrenica, nicknamed AJ, as they talked to a guest. The couple had earlier confirmed Kylie’s pregnancy in an exclusive interview with PEP.ph, YES! Magazine’s online affiliate, which posted its article on the subject last January 26.
Kylie and Aljur’s wedding plans are on hold, the actress said in an interview with SmartParenting.com.ph. We reprint as is Kylie’s statement as published on the website— which is owned by Summit Media, just like YES! Magazine—about when she and Aljur will get married:
“Probably when our baby starts walking? Is that a while? Medyo patagal pa. Pero I have this fantasy kasi – and when I have a fantasy I work toward making it happen – na dala nya yung rings. So we might have to wait a while, but I really want that to happen. I don’t know, we’ll see. That’s a traditional wedding setup, but then you can always go for just the papers, right, and you have the ring. But may image lang talaga ako na yung anak ko magdadala ng singsing sa amin, so we’ll wait for that.
