Coleen is a happy bride-to-be
Since Coleen Garcia got engaged to her boyfriend Billy Crawford on December 20, 2016, the movie and TV actress has started planning for their beach wedding that will take place in the summer of 2018.
“I don’t regret planning the wedding this early because at least ang dami kong nagagawa in between,” she told YES! at the photo shoot for her latest endorsement, the Filipino cosmetics brand Happy Skin. The endorsement shoot, meant specifically for Happy Skin’s bridal collection, was held last July 20 at the Pat Dy Photography studio in San Juan City, Metro Manila.
“I get to enjoy being Billy’s fiancée before we get to take the big step, and, you know, it’s a process, and I’m enjoying every step,” she added, smiling.
So far, Coleen said, they’ve set the wedding date and venue, but they’re still deciding on the lists of the entourage, the guests, and the suppliers. She’s quite certain, though, that her cousin and fellow actress Ria Atayde will be her maid of honor.
“Matagal na talaga kaming close,” she said of Ria. “Siya talaga ’yong pinaka-confidant ko, and every time na nagkakaproblema ako, siya talaga ’yong tinatakbuhan ko.”
The beautiful bride-to-be has chosen the fashion designer who will make her gown, and she’ll meet up with that designer in October. “For my wedding gown, I want to keep it simple but detailed. Gusto ko kasi ’yong tipong hindi sobrang bongga pero walang ibang makakagaya.”
She has also design ideas for her bridesmaids, such as “hindi masyadong formal,” referring to the gowns, and “manipis lang,” referring to the fabric. “Pero for now,” she pointed out, “I think I want to decide on what’s best for my girls, kasi sila naman ’yong magsusuot, e. So iisipin ko muna kung ano’ng babagay sa kanila.”
The ABS-CBN contract star, who plays a major role in the teleserye Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin, makes it clear that she’s not a bridezilla, defined by Merriam-Webster as “a bride or bride-to-be who is extremely demanding and difficult to deal with.”
“I’m a bridechilla,” Coleen declared goodnaturedly, by which she means that she’s an easygoing person. “Sobrang relaxed lang ako throughout the entire process. I thought I’m gonna be more meticulous, but I’m actually more trusting. Kasi I hired a very great team, and buong-buo ang tiwala ko sa kanila.”
Coleen Garcia, who turns 25 on September 24, is engaged to be married to 35-year-old singeractor-TV host Billy Crawford, her boyfriend since 2014. She sees no problem with settling down at an age that’s considered these days as still young, and with a guy who’s a decade older than she is.
“Kasi I never really grew up with ano, ’yong buong family,” she explained to YES! “My parents separated when I was nine years old, so there’s always been that little hole in my heart that needed to be filled. You know, I’ve always wanted to have a happy family, and I’ve found that in Billy.
“My family and I are close, and Billy has brought us all even closer. So, it’s been a happy point in my life. And sa tingin ko kasi, wala rin ’yan sa edad, e. I mean, it’s just a matter of being ready.”
Coleen and Summer, her year-old chihuahua, are inseparable. “Pati sa tapings, sa movie shoot, palagi ko siyang dala,” she said, adding that her canine companion keeps her awake during long taping hours. “May eye bags na nga, e! Hahaha!”
The altar-bound celebrity added that Summer will be at her wedding, too. On the other hand, her older chihuahua, the 16-year-old Bambi (not in photos), will play a special participation role: to give her away to her groom.
After shooting for the promotional materials, Coleen—carrying her pet dog Summer—had a snap with photographer Pat Dy and Happy Skin co-founder Rissa Mananquil-Trillo (above photo).
Coleen is an avowed fan of the Pinoy-made cosmetics, and she’s thrilled to be tapped to endorse Happy Skin’s bridal collection, which is essentially a retouch kit made up of two liquid lipsticks, a blush with a compact and a brush, and a highlighting pen. Also included in the collection are two shades of nail polishes.
“I really believe in their products,” Coleen said. “Kahit hindi ko gagawin ’tong shoot, gagamitin ko pa rin talaga ’yong product nila. I use their products for both tapings sa teleserye and sa movie, ’tsaka ’yong pang‑everyday‑use ko.”
