Bing’s summit visit
By happenstance, we saw Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin actress Bing Loyzaga at the Summit Media office one fine afternoon last July.
When asked what her business there was, she smiled and said coyly, “Susundo ng anak.”
The anak turned out to be her bunso, Gabriella “Gabs” Gibbs, the 19-year-old viral makeup artist whose most famous video post on social media—her guy makeup transformation video that featured her turning herself into a handsome male through makeup—trended worldwide last year.
Bing said she serves as the manager of her two daughters, the other one being Alyssa “Chi” Gibbs. Mom’s the one to talk to with regards to the daughters’ bookings for photo and video shoots, talks, demos and whatnots.
The day we met Bing, she said she was at the same time Gabs’s PA, or personal assistant, that day. Gabs, who is also brand ambassador for L’Oreal Philippines makeup, was doing a video makeup tutorial session for Preview magazine’s website.
“Kailangan minsan, sasamahan mo,” Bing told us. “Kasi itong isang ito [referring to Gabs], hindi ’yan magsasabi ng mga ayaw niyang gawin o sabihin. Sa akin lang siya magsasabi, ’tapos ako naman magre-relay… Minsan ako din ang driver nila…”
By nila, she was including her other daughter, fashion entrepreneur Chi, the co-founder, printmaker, and designer of her own fashion label, Neon Island.
In the virtual world, the sisters Chi and Gabs are competent influencers through their video blogs called “The Gibbs Guide,” where they discuss and give out tips about anything and everything beauty and fashion.
(Gibbs, to the unfamiliar, is a last name, courtesy of their talented dad, singer-actor Janno Gibbs.)
Gabs, during the shoot break, went up to her mom and asked if the latter happened to have a pair of earrings, as Gabs herself had forgotten to “accessorize.” Bing readily took off the earrings she was wearing and helped her daughter put them on.
“Actually, mas madali mag-taping kesa mag-PA,” Bing laughs. “Kasi hindi ko naiintindihan ang mundo nila, e. ’Yong social media, ganyan. Pero sige lang. Kasi keri naman nila.”
