Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin star Kim Chiu, known to her fans as Kimmy or as the Chinita Princess, marked her 11th year in show business by launching Chinita Princess: Touch of Your Love, her third recording album under Star Records.

The singer-actress admitted that, even if she has been performing before large audiences for many years now, she has yet to build up her confidence for live performances.

“Kunwari may ASAP, may kanta, may sayaw ako do’n, hindi ako one hundred percent confident. Nahihiya pa rin po kasi ako, e. Kinakabahan ako. Katulad no’ng nag-ASAP ako, kumanta ako nang live! Naiyak ako after. Nanginginig ako. Iniisip ko, kelan ba matatapos ’yong kanta?

“Parang kinakabahan pa rin po ako lagi kasi hindi ko alam ang perception ng mga tao. Kasi sobrang thinker po kasi ako. Parang… hindi ko alam, worrier, thinker. Pero masaya ako pag nagpe-perform ako.”

Kim’s album—which contains eight tracks, including the carrier single “Okay Na Ako”— aims to inspire people to never give up on love.• Kim, who has a natural flair for comedy, proudly told the press at the album launch that her singing voice has improved a lot, thanks to voice lessons. “Hindi na po ako boses k***!” she giggled, using the For Adults Only Tagalog word for female private parts. Then she quickly added: “Ay, ’wag n’yo pong ilalabas video no’n. Baka makita ng mga bata! Haha!”

But though she’s a much better singer now, Kim confessed that she wouldn’t dare do an Araneta coliseum concert yet. “Pang-KiaTheater lang po ako, saka [sm] skydome,” she laughed. “Masyado pong nakakatakot ang Araneta.”

she also admitted that she’s realistic in her song selections. in her new album for instance, she, along with her record producers, only chose songs that are within her vocal range and singing style.

“Siyempre, ang pinili ko, ’yong kaya ko lang. ’Wag na tayong mangarap nang mataas-taas diyan. ’Yong kaya lang ng boses ko at ’yong gusto kong message na laman ng album ko.”
