The Palais Garnier amphitheater, often called the Opéra Garnier, is a vast, stunningly decorated auditorium. With its horseshoe-shaped seating arrangement, it can accommodate up to 1,979 guests at a time. The amphitheater’s stage, according to Wikipedia, is the “largest in Europe and can accommodate as many as 450 artists.”
The popularity of this opera house is said to rival that of Paris’s most visited tourist attractions: the Louvre Museum, the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Sacre Coeur Basilica. Such popularity was partly because this opera house was used as the setting for The Phantom of the Opera, the 1910 novel by Gaston Leroux on which Andrew Lloyd Webber’s popular musical of the same title was based.
With its impressive decor, the amphitheater became the background of choice for some of Vicki’s guests. Photos on the opposite page show (L-R), Korina Sanchez, Ben Chan and Jinkee Pacquiao, and Jodi Sta. Maria.
Jodi, who went to Paris only for the wedding and took a flight home the next day, chose to have her photo taken on the steps of the amphitheater’s Grand Stairway.
