Ideally located near the headquarters of the ABS-CBN and GMA networks, the bustling Timog Avenue neighborhood in Quezon City has attracted many celebrities and motivated them to purchase homes along one of its numerous grid-like streets. One of these celebrities is Aljur Abrenica, who had his three-story townhouse renovated in 2016. The result is an industrial-themed home, characterized by reclaimed yakal and exposed brick and piping.

The design is the brainchild of a good friend of Aljur’s, screenwriter-director Richard V. Somes, whose filmography includes the movie Yanggaw (2008) and the TV series Maria la del Barrio (2011- 2012). Direk Richard, who also works as production designer and art director, envisioned a home where artists can freely create and collaborate with other practitioners of the creative arts and crafts.

“That time, hindi pa nakaplano na magka-family, e,” Aljur sheepishly admits, explaining the not-so-kid-friendly design of his townhouse. “Bachelor’s pad pa no’n, e.”

But the actor is hoping that he can keep his “artist’s sanctuary” as it is.“’ Tapos, makahanap na lang ng ibang place para sa bata. Pero for now, siyempre babaguhin muna namin… Si Kylie naman bahala magde-design.”
