In partnership with the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/ AIDS (UNAIDS) and the community organization LoveYourself, Pia launched her own campaign, Project Progressive Information Awareness, aka the PIA Project.
According to a press release distributed at the launch, the PIA Project “will focus on spreading information on HIV and Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Expression (SOGIE), and promoting self-worth among the youth.”
Before the project launch, Pia took a public HIV test conducted by LoveYourself, a community organization that provides free HIV tests in mobile clinics serving Metro Manila. After only 10 minutes, Pia was handed an envelope containing the results of her test—which she kept confidential, explaining that those who undergo the tests can choose not to disclose the results.
