Kapuso Stars at Summit

YES! (Philippines) - - Stargazing -

Having the contract stars of GMA Artist Center, the talent-management arm of GMA Network, as visitors in the Summit Media office is a good way to get to know them. They give fun but substantial interviews to YES! Magazine and our online affiliate, PEP.ph. They also participate in the games and challenges cooked up by PEP.ph.

Recent office visitors were newcomers Lindsay de Vera, Bruno Gabriel, and Ayra Mariano; homegrown talents Kris Bernal and Rocco Nacino; and matinee idols Ivan Dorschner, Migo Adecer, and Jason Abalos. Kris Bernal and Rocco Nacino—the grand female winner and the male runner-up, respectively, in the fourth and fifth seasons of the reality-TV talent competition StarStruck— thanked those who watched their recently concluded drama series Impostora and Haplos, which were both aired from July 2017 to February 2018.

They also talked about their business ventures—Kris’s burger joint, called Meat Kris, and Rocco’s franchise of Rufo’s fast-food chain, plus Rocco’s co-ownership of Backyard Kitchen + Brew restaurant.

Kris was so passionate about her Meat Kris that she found ways of promoting it even while she and Rocco were tackling PEP.ph’s challenge to answer situational questions within a five-second period. Rocco then lightheartedly chided his fellow Kapuso star: “Shameless plug!” Among the three newcomers—(L-R) Lindsay de Vera, Bruno Gabriel, and Ayra Mariano—it’s Lindsay who has had more experience in the acting field.

Lindsay was part of the hit action-drama series Alyas Robin Hood, which ran for two seasons (from September 2016 to February 2017 and from August 2017 to November 2017). She played the younger sister of lead star Dingdong Dantes, with Jaclyn Jose as their mother, in the show directed by Dominic Zapata. “I learned a lot from them,” Lindsay said of her director and costars. “Especially kay Tita Jaclyn. Ang dami niyang ’tinuro sa akin.”

Bruno and Ayra were paired up in the millennial teledrama G.R.I.N.D. (Get Ready, It’s a New Day), whose first season ran in mid-2017. While waiting for their show’s next season to start, they have been working on other projects. Bruno participated last November in Under the Stars, a fashion show put on by the Bench lifestyle brand. Ayra is in the cast of the light romantic series The One That Got Away.

Heartthrobs Jason Abalos, Ivan Dorschner, and Migo Adecer (L-R) spoke about their roles in The One That Got Away.
