2017 is a year of high expectations for tourism in Portugal. All forecasts are pointing towards this. We will have more tourists, new markets and increased demand from countries which have traditionally been more difficult. In 2017, we will also witness an increase in accommodation capacity, in various forms, from classic hotels to other innovative and game-changing hospitality solutions, which confirm the paradigm shift in this sector.

It is against the backdrop of this very vibrant environment that hotel managers and their teams will need to be capable of surprising an increasingly unpredictable clientele. In addition to the triple aspects of comfort/cleanliness/genuine warmth, clients nowadays also seek hotels which have their own unique life and soul and provide unforgettable memories.

Despite the enormous diversity of hotels managed by DHM - Discovery Hotel Management, we are attempting to meet this challenge by having a common policy centering on people. We know that innovation, good ideas, more efficient processes and the best attitudes do not happen by chance. They are the result of continuous and ongoing training, encouraging initiative, involvement in our objectives and participation in our results.

We believe that this is the key to our assets appreciation and to improve the profitability of the hotel business. A simple formula based on people who are passionate about their work and one hundred percent dedicated to our clients. Proactive people who have the freedom to make mistakes and to try and do things anew. People to whom we delegate responsibilities and from whom we demand results. People who inspire confidence in those who rely on them. And finally, people who think with their heads and not with a dusty hotel manual.

It is a long road and despite the obstacles, it is well worth pursuing. After all, this is a business of people f or people!
