MES In­dian School marks 44th an­nual day

The in­au­gu­ral cer­e­mony of the two-day cul­tural ex­trav­a­ganza, Mes­merise, cel­e­brat­ing the 44th an­nual day of MES In­dian School was re­cently held at the open-air au­di­to­rium of the school. A gal­axy of dis­tin­guished per­son­al­i­ties be­sides hun­dreds of spec­ta­tors wit­nessed the splen­did fi­esta, which show­cased artis­tic tal­ents of stu­dents.

This year’s an­nual day cel­e­bra­tion of the school is ded­i­cated to the theme, ‘Grow With Us’ em­pha­sis­ing the school’s strong com­mit­ment to the holis­tic de­vel­op­ment of its stu­dents. Hamad Mo­hammed al-Ghali al-Mirry, Di­rec­tor at Of­fice of Pri­vate Schools Li­cens­ing, Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion and Higher Ed­u­ca­tion, was the chief guest. Dr Ravin­der Mam­tani, Pro­fes­sor of Health­care Pol­icy and Re­search, Se­nior As­so­ciate Dean for Pop­u­la­tion Health, Ca­pac­ity Build­ing and Stu­dent Af­fairs, Weill Cor­nell Medicine; Dr Caitlin Spanks, Ed­u­ca­tion Pro­gramme As­sis­tant UN­ESCO Doha of­fice for the GCC states and Ye­men; and P P Hy­der, Founder Mem­ber MES In­dian School; were the guests of hon­our.

Hamad Mo­hammed al-Ghali al-Mirry ap­pre­ci­ated the ef­forts of the school in bring­ing out the best tal­ents of the stu­dents. Dr Ravin­der Mam­tani urged the stu­dents to strike an op­ti­mum bal­ance be­tween aca­demic ex­cel­lence and the skills re­quired to be suc­cess­ful in so­ci­ety. Dr Caitlin Spanks in her ad­dress com­pli­mented all the medal win­ners of aca­demic ex­cel­lence and em­pha­sised ev­ery child’s ba­sic right of re­ceiv­ing the ed­u­ca­tion re­gard­less of race, gen­der and eco­nomic con­di­tion. Hameeda Kadar, MES Prin­ci­pal, pre­sented the school an­nual re­port, which high­lighted the sig­nif­i­cant achieve­ments of stu­dents in the cur­ric­u­lar and co-cur­ric­u­lar do­mains dur­ing the aca­demic year 2017-18. An­namma Shammy, Vice Prin­ci­pal and Head of Girls’ Sec­tion, an­nounced the awards, gold medals and me­men­tos to the school top­pers and mer­i­to­ri­ous stu­dents of Class XII CBSE ex­am­i­na­tion 2018, while Mo­hammed Ir­fan Habib Shaikh, Vice Prin­ci­pal and Head of Boys’ Sec­tion, an­nounced awards for the scholas­tic achiev­ers, who se­cured dis­tinc­tion in Class X CBSE ex­am­i­na­tion held in 2018.

Khashif Jaleel, Pres­i­dent of­fi­ci­at­ing MES Gov­ern­ing Body; P K Mo­hamed, Gen­eral Sec­re­tary; and A P Khaleel, Di­rec­tor Cul­tural and Co-cur­ric­u­lar ac­tiv­i­ties; were among the dig­ni­taries present on the oc­ca­sion. The school also hon­oured its mem­bers of the staff, who put in 25 years of com­mend­able ser­vice.
