MES Indian School marks 44th annual day
The inaugural ceremony of the two-day cultural extravaganza, Mesmerise, celebrating the 44th annual day of MES Indian School was recently held at the open-air auditorium of the school. A galaxy of distinguished personalities besides hundreds of spectators witnessed the splendid fiesta, which showcased artistic talents of students.
This year’s annual day celebration of the school is dedicated to the theme, ‘Grow With Us’ emphasising the school’s strong commitment to the holistic development of its students. Hamad Mohammed al-Ghali al-Mirry, Director at Office of Private Schools Licensing, Ministry of Education and Higher Education, was the chief guest. Dr Ravinder Mamtani, Professor of Healthcare Policy and Research, Senior Associate Dean for Population Health, Capacity Building and Student Affairs, Weill Cornell Medicine; Dr Caitlin Spanks, Education Programme Assistant UNESCO Doha office for the GCC states and Yemen; and P P Hyder, Founder Member MES Indian School; were the guests of honour.
Hamad Mohammed al-Ghali al-Mirry appreciated the efforts of the school in bringing out the best talents of the students. Dr Ravinder Mamtani urged the students to strike an optimum balance between academic excellence and the skills required to be successful in society. Dr Caitlin Spanks in her address complimented all the medal winners of academic excellence and emphasised every child’s basic right of receiving the education regardless of race, gender and economic condition. Hameeda Kadar, MES Principal, presented the school annual report, which highlighted the significant achievements of students in the curricular and co-curricular domains during the academic year 2017-18. Annamma Shammy, Vice Principal and Head of Girls’ Section, announced the awards, gold medals and mementos to the school toppers and meritorious students of Class XII CBSE examination 2018, while Mohammed Irfan Habib Shaikh, Vice Principal and Head of Boys’ Section, announced awards for the scholastic achievers, who secured distinction in Class X CBSE examination held in 2018.
Khashif Jaleel, President officiating MES Governing Body; P K Mohamed, General Secretary; and A P Khaleel, Director Cultural and Co-curricular activities; were among the dignitaries present on the occasion. The school also honoured its members of the staff, who put in 25 years of commendable service.
