Gulf Times - - QATAR -

UK ambassador Ajay Sharma has hailed the reforms and measures initiated for protecting the interests and welfare of expatriate workers in Qatar over the last few months.

The ambassador said many countries and international labour forums have lauded the initiatives made in Qatar in recent months to protect the country’s expatriate labour force.

“Measures like the Wage Protection System and sanctioning overseas centres for medical-related procedures for expatriate workers have come in for appreciation from many countries and international forums,” he said.

The envoy also welcomed the recent decision to do away with exit permits for a large section of expatriates.
