SE­CU­RITY CON­CERNS FOR QATAR'S CLOUD

An on­line sur­vey by Gulf Busi­ness Ma­chines (GBM) which polled 1,060 IT pro­fes­sion­als based in the United Arab Emi­rates, the King­dom of Saudi Ara­bia, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait had some re­veal­ing in­sights.

As the re­gion mir­rors the world's im­mer­sion in a dig­i­tal age, nearly 75% of IT ex­perts in Qatar be­lieve the GCC is a prime tar­get for cy­ber-se­cu­rity crimes and em­ploy­ees con­nect­ing to com­pany net­works from sev­eral de­vices pose a mul­ti­plied threat, beg­ging for ad­di­tional IT se­cu­rity pre­cau­tions. This year's sur­vey found that in­ci­dents caused by in­ter­nal staff in the pre­vi­ous 12 months rose to 51%, up from 35% in 2013.
