Sheikh Mo­hammed Al Thani, the first Qatari to con­quer Mount Ever­est, is set to take eight of his coun­try­men on an un­for­get­table jour­ney to the peak of Kil­i­man­jaro.

As part of a char­ity ef­fort, called El­e­vate to Ed­u­cate, Sheikh Mo­hammed Al Thani is head­ing a team of eight brave vol­un­teers who will climb the tallest peak in Africa, Mt Kil­i­man­jaro, to raise money to im­prove ed­u­ca­tion in Pales­tine. A Reach Out To Asia ini­tia­tive, the nine-day trek is set to take place be­tween Oc­to­ber 2 and 12. The cost of the ex­pe­di­tion per person is $3,400 (QR12,380) and ad­di­tion­ally, each clim­ber will com­mit to rais­ing QR50,000 through var­i­ous fundrais­ing ac­tiv­i­ties, Sheikh Al Thani con­firmed over email. He also gave a talk, open to all, on the in­tri­ca­cies of climb­ing the moun­tain and how the funds will ben­e­fit Pales­tinian chil­dren on July 21 at Aspire Doom Au­di­to­rium.
