FRENCH FIRM OFFERS SAT-COMM SYSTEM TO QATAR ARMED FORCES
The French multinational Thales was awarded a contract to supply the Qatar Armed Forces with a military satellite communications system.
A contract signed between Pascale Sourisse, SEVP International Development for Thales and Eng. Abdulaziz Falah Al Dosari, Assistant for Technology to the Minister of State for Defence Affairs, in the presence of Major General Hamad Bin Ali Al Attiyah, Qatar Minister of State for Defence Affairs and Jean-Yves Le Drian, French Minister of Defence, stipulates that Thales will provide the Qatar Armed Forces with a secure, high-data-rate satellite communications system. The technologies included in this project are based on Thales's Nexium solution for critical communications, which includes System 21 that is being used by several NATO countries.
The ground segment supplied by Thales will provide Qatari ground and naval forces with a long-range communications capability to enhance national security and protect vital interests.
