VODA­FONE QATAR BUYS QNBN

The sec­ond- big­gest tele­com op­er­a­tor in the coun­try, Voda­fone Qatar will com­plete the deal to own 100% of Qatar Na­tional Broad­band by the end of 2014.

AC­CORD­ING TO A COMPANY STATE­MENT, VODA­FONE WILL BUY ALL OF QNBN'S 21 MIL­LION SHARES AT A PAR VALUE OF QR10 ($2.75) PER SHARE. THOUGH THE DEAL IS PO­TEN­TIALLY WORTH QR210 MIL­LION, THE TWO PAR­TIES ARE YET TO AR­RIVE AT A MU­TU­ALLY AGREED PRICE. QNBN HAS BEEN LAY­ING OUT FI­BRE BROAD­BAND IN­FRA­STRUC­TURE THROUGH­OUT THE COUN­TRY AND EX­PECTS TO BE ABLE TO PRO­VIDE 95% OF THE USERS IN THE RE­GION WITH FI­BRE CON­NEC­TIV­ITY BY 2015.
