Qatar­To­day speaks to the team be­hind Best Arab Re­gion Univer­si­ties, a rank­ing which was re­leased for the first time in the re­gion.

The in­au­gu­ral rank­ings of univer­si­ties in the Arab re­gion based on aca­demic re­search per­for­mance were un­veiled at the World In­no­va­tion Sum­mit for Ed­u­ca­tion ( WISE 2014).

It has ranked Qatar Univer­sity, which has been at the fore­front of re­search in the coun­try, 29th in po­si­tion.

‘2015 Best Arab Re­gion Univer­si­ties' pre­pared by US News & World Re­port, a US-based pub­lisher of ed­u­ca­tion anal­y­sis and rank­ings, has based its rank­ings on univer­si­ties' aca­demic re­search per­for­mance, al­low­ing stu­dents to com­pare more than 90 in­sti­tu­tions across 16 coun­tries in the Arab re­gion. In ad­di­tion, there are sep­a­rate rank­ings in 16 sub­ject ar­eas, in­clud­ing key ones such as com­puter sci­ence, en­gi­neer­ing, medicine, maths and so­cial sciences.

The rank­ing of­fers a com­pre­hen­sive as­sess­ment of higher ed­u­ca­tion in­sti­tu­tions in the re­gion, al­low­ing prospec­tive stu­dents and their par­ents to ac­cu­rately com­pare in­sti­tu­tions.
