EGYPT AND QATAR SHRUG OFF DIF­FER­ENCES?

Egyptian Pres­i­dent Ab­del Fat­tah Al Sisi said his coun­try “looked for­ward to turn­ing the page on past dif­fer­ences” with Qatar fol­low­ing talks with the Emir, sug­gest­ing a pos­si­ble thaw in re­la­tions be­tween the two es­tranged Arab na­tions.

Ameet­ing in Cairo bro­kered by Saudi Ara­bia and at­tended by Khalid al-Tuwai­jri, a close aide of King Ab­dul­lah bin Ab­du­laziz of Saudi Ara­bia, sig­nalled Riyadh's de­ter­mi­na­tion to push for a rec­on­cil­i­a­tion be­tween Egypt and Qatar af­ter the fail­ure of its ef­forts last month to end what had be­come a feud be­tween the two coun­tries. Mean­while the Emiri Di­wan re­leased a state­ment af­firm­ing its “com­plete sup­port for sis­terly Egypt”, adding that an en­voy of the Emir, H H Sheikh Tamim bin Ha­mad Al Thani, has called on Pres­i­dent Ab­del Fat­tah Al Sisi.
