Shake­speare and Co, a popular restau­rant and choco­latier in Doha, do­nated more than QR58,000 in 2014 to sup­port three ma­jor causes: Qatar Autism Cen­ter, One Cup for Gaza and Qatar Can­cer So­ci­ety.

The funds raised were a di­rect re­sult of the gen­eros­ity of the restau­rant's lo­cal pa­trons at both the Dar Al Salam and The Pearl branches. Shake­speare and Co. be­gan 2014 by pledg­ing to sup­port the Qatar Autism Cen­ter by fi­nan­cially spon­sor­ing three fam­i­lies who were un­able to af­ford the tu­ition. Fur­ther, the restau­rant raised QR42,000 that en­abled the chil­dren to at­tend the cen­tre on a full-time ba­sis and were pro­vided with all the tools needed to help de­velop their abil­i­ties and skills through­out the year.

Sami Azrak, CEO of Shake­speare and Co, says: “We be­lieve that it is im­por­tant to al­ways give back to the com­mu­nity that we op­er­ate in. As a com­pany, we are determined to make a pos­i­tive and sus­tain­able con­tri­bu­tion how­ever we can. Over the last 12 months, we raised over QR58,000 for three lo­cally-based or­gan­i­sa­tions who are com­mit­ted to mak­ing a real dif­fer­ence. Shake­speare and Co. will build on its suc­cess­ful con­tri­bu­tions of last year by sup­port­ing lo­cal char­i­ties in 2015, and is in dis­cus­sions with the Qatar Can­cer So­ci­ety to work to­gether to raise aware­ness of can­cer."
