QATAR SENDS AID TO QUAKE­HIT NEPAL

Air­craft laden with Qatari aid ma­te­ri­als were sent from Doha, Qatar News Agency re­ported.

Two planes, each car­ry­ing, 60 tonnes of re­lief ma­te­ri­als in­clud­ing food, medicines, power gen­er­a­tors and tents, left for Kathmandu im­me­di­ately af­ter the sever­ity of the sit­u­a­tion on the group be­came clear. The aid was put to­gether by the Per­ma­nent Com­mit­tee for Res­cue Works, Re­lief and Hu­man­i­tar­ian Aid, headed by Lakhwiya. Two other air­craft were sent out a cou­ple of days later with 120 tonnes of re­lief ma­te­ri­als, in ad­di­tion to a field hos­pi­tal pro­vided by Qatari Red Cres­cent to de­liver med­i­cal aid to the af­fected peo­ple, ac­cord­ing to the state­ment.
