QatarTo­day, the old­est and the most read English busi­ness and news mag­a­zine in the coun­try, an­nounced the first Qatar To­day Busi­ness Ex­cel­lence Awards, to be held on June 16, 2015 at the Hil­ton Ho­tel, Doha.

Held un­der the aus­pices of Qatar Cham­ber, the awards will put the fo­cus on the best per­form­ers on the Qatar Stock Ex­change (QSE). Qatar Inc has shown re­silience, in­no­va­tion and fore­sight to grow in spite of sev­eral chal­lenges. The Top 10 cor­po­ra­tions will be from the 43 listed com­pa­nies. on QSE.

Oryx Advertising Com­pany, Pub­lisher and Editor in Chief, Yousef Al Dar­wish says, “Qatar is con­tin­u­ing to in­vest in in­fra­struc­ture, with planned spend­ing in the re­gion of $205 bil­lion mainly on roads, sta­di­ums, and rail projects. De­spite the re­cent drop in oil prices, Qatar will ex­e­cute ma­jor­ity of its projects as planned. This is pos­si­ble due to the vi­sion of our lead­er­ship, HH the Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Ha­mad Al Thani. We are all grate­ful to this farsighted vi­sion of both the Emir and the Fa­ther Emir.”

Maserati is the main spon­sor of the event. Maserati and Qatar To­day will also give away the Maserati Qatar To­day Young Achiev­ers Award. This award will be given to an “in­flu­encer and role model who is push­ing bound­aries and chang­ing per­cep­tions in Qatar.”

Charly Dagher, Gen­eral Man­ager of Al­far­dan Sports Mo­tors, the of­fi­cial Maserati im­porter in Qatar, said. "We are keen on be­ing part of our com­mu­nity, en­cour­ag­ing young role mod­els who can make a dif­fer­ence in the fu­ture of Qatar.”

Amadeus, lead­ers in travel tech­nol­ogy, is the sup­port spon­sor. “We hope the award will mo­ti­vate the busi­ness com­mu­nity to en­cour­age more par­tic­i­pa­tion,” said Waqif Al Wahidi, Gen­eral Man­ager, Amadeus Qatar.
