Labour City at Mu­saimeer near the in­dus­trial zone, re­ported to be the largest one in Qatar and the Gulf re­gion, was opened by HE the Prime Min­is­ter and In­te­rior Min­is­ter Sheikh Ab­dul­lah bin Nasser bin Khal­ifa Al Thani.

The Labour City is lo­cated 14 kilo­me­ters from cen­tral Doha and 13 kilo­me­ters from the Ha­mad In­ter­na­tional Air­port. The Spe­cial Engi­neer­ing Of­fice over­saw its com­ple­tion and im­ple­men­ta­tion over al­most three years. Built over an area of 1,100,000 square me­tres, the city ac­com­mo­dates 100,000 work­ers and is di­vided into two parts: the en­ter­tain­ment and busi­ness dis­trict. The lat­ter in­cludes a com­mer­cial cen­tre and a mar­ket with 200 shops, a cricket ground, a the­atre that can ac­com­mo­date 17,000 peo­ple and four mod­ern cin­ema halls.

The sec­ond sec­tion of the city hosts the res­i­den­tial com­plexes for work­ers and con­tains 55 res­i­den­tial build­ings, three mosques, a med­i­cal clinic and park­ing lot for buses.
