An at­mos­phere of fear and violence blan­keted the world this year af­ter sev­eral high-pro­file at­tacks – both or­gan­ised and lone wolf – were launched in dif­fer­ent cities across the world. While safety seemed elu­sive and the scourge of ter­ror­ism om­nipresent, it is dur­ing times like th­ese that we find new courage and strength. In the next few pages, we pay our re­spects to the vic­tims and hon­our the re­silience of the sur­vivors.

killed and more than 180 wounded.

A pic­ture taken in Paris shows a mu­ral of a French flag made of the words “Not afraid”. Paris was rocked by a se­ries of at­tacks, claimed by Is­lamic State, on Novem­ber 13 that killed 130 peo­ple.
