Oore­doo and Huawei have signed a mem­o­ran­dum of un­der­stand­ing (MoU) to open a next-gen­er­a­tion In­no­va­tions Lab in Qatar, at a cer­e­mony at Mo­bile World Congress in Barcelona.

Based at Oore­doo's Qatar Data Cen­tre 5, the fa­cil­ity will de­velop, test and demon­strate next-gen­er­a­tion in­for­ma­tion tech­nol­ogy and com­mu­ni­ca­tion so­lu­tions, in­clud­ing Mo­bile Broad­band, 5G, dig­i­tal trans­for­ma­tion, In­ter­net of Things so­lu­tions, 4K video en­hance­ments, among oth­ers. Huawei will pro­vide tech­ni­cal sup­port for Oore­doo's re­search in the lab, in­clud­ing of­fer­ing train­ing courses and sup­port­ing knowl­edge trans­fer be­tween the two com­pa­nies. Huawei and Oore­doo will col­lab­o­rate on an im­ple- men­ta­tion process for new young tal­ent in Qatar, and reg­u­larly or­gan­ise tech­ni­cal and man­age­ment train­ing to de­liver sus­tain­able re­sults. The lab will not only be a plat­form for proof-of-con­cept projects, but will also demon­strate in­no­va­tive so­lu­tions to part­ners, en­abling them to as­sess and ul­ti­mately use new tech­nolo­gies to en­hance their busi­ness per­for­mance. The agree­ment was signed by Waleed Al Sayed, CEO, Oore­doo Qatar, and Eric Xu, Ro­tat­ing CEO, Huawei, in the pres­ence of se­nior Oore­doo and Huawei ex­ec­u­tives.
