THIRD EEDF HIGH­LIGHTS NEED FOR EN­TRE­PRE­NEUR­IAL ECOSYS­TEM

Vi­tal con­cerns as well as the lat­est in­for­ma­tion on entrepreneurship were shared and de­lib­er­ated at the third edi­tion of the ‘Entrepreneurship in Eco­nomic Devel­op­ment Fo­rum'.

Or­gan­ised by Qatar Univer­sity and Qatar Devel­op­ment Bank, the event was for­mally opened by HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Jas­sim Al Thani, Min­is­ter of Econ­omy and Com­merce who in his speech said, “The or­gan­i­sa­tion of this fo­rum for the third con­sec­u­tive year is ev­i­dence of its suc­cess and it comes at a time when the world is fac­ing a fall in oil prices. That is why and now more than ever the Gulf coun­tries need to di­ver­sify their eco­nomic plat­form and boost the pri­vate sec­tor's role to be­come the main en­gine for eco­nomic devel­op­ment.” Over the course of two days, top gov­ern­ment of­fi­cials, key busi­ness lead­ers and lead­ing aca­demics from the re­gion and the world dis­cussed sev­eral is­sues like gov­ern­ment in­ter­ven­tion with SMEs and en­trepreneurs, fi­nanc­ing en­trepreneurs through in­sti­tu­tions, an­gel in­vestors, crowd­fund­ing and other sources, entrepreneurship within and through ed­u­ca­tion and us­ing so­cial me­dia to en­sure the suc­cess of en­tre­pre­neur­ial ven­tures.
