We are tak­ing ev­ery mea­sure to pro­tect the pri­vacy of our cus­tomers and have en­gaged an ex­ter­nal third-party ex­pert to re­view all our sys­tems to en­sure no vul­ner­a­bil­i­ties ex­ist,” the bank said in a state­ment, ad­ding that all the cus­tomers' ac­counts were safe. While ac­knowl­edg­ing that some of the data re­leased may be ac­cu­rate the bank also said that the leaked in­for­ma­tion con­tained a mix­ture of data from the at­tack as well as other non- QNB sources, such as per­sonal data from so­cial me­dia chan­nels.

QNB fur­ther said that the breach only in­volved a por­tion of Qatar-based cus­tomers. The bank, how­ever, did not say any­thing about the iden­tity of the hack­ers.
