A TWIN IN TUR­KEY

Min­is­ter of Mu­nic­i­pal­ity and En­vi­ron­ment HE Mo­hamed bin Ab­dul­lah Al Ru­maihi an­nounced the sign­ing of a twin cities agree­ment be­tween Doha and Ankara in or­der to ex­change ex­per­tise be­tween them. The min­is­ter spoke to the press after sign­ing the agree­ment in the Turkish cap­i­tal, com­ment­ing on Doha's ad­vanced smart city ini­tia­tives and the lat­est tech­no­log­i­cal en­hance­ments in this di­rec­tion. The min­is­ter and the ac­com­pa­ny­ing del­e­ga­tion then toured Ankara and vis­ited Haci Byram and Anka­park Theme Park.

Dur­ing this visit, a $2.1 bil­lion (QR7.6 bil­lion) con­tract was signed with Ah­met Arslan, Tur­key's Min­is­ter of Trans­port, Mar­itime and Com­mu­ni­ca­tion, to build a new ex­press­way through Al Khor. The 34 km route will have a to­tal of 10 lanes, 12 viaducts and eight in­ter­sec­tions as well as a ded­i­cated pedes­trian lane and a mo­tor­cy­cle lane. It will be built by Tek­fen Con­struc­tion, which is part of Tek­fen Hold­ing, and is ex­pected to be com­pleted in three years.
