Ghana hails Rita
Rita Marley, widow of pop icon Bob Marley, was made an honorary citizen of Ghana on August 3, the West Africa country's Emancipation Day. She was also presented with a Ghanaian passport. Ambassador Kwesi Quartey, Ghana's deputy minister of foreign affairs and regional integration, paid homage to Mrs. Marley who has lived in Ghana for almost 20 years. “Indeed Mrs Rita Marley continues to leverage her unique name recognition to showcase Ghana and take up Ghana's pan-Africanist role and tourism potential at every opportunity,” he said.
