Each year, a bevy of talented Saint Lucian beauties compete for the chance to reign for one year as National Carnival Queen. In addition, the lucky lass, receives a number of fabulous prizes and also has the opportunity to represent the island at a number of regional pageants and events.
This year, the National Carnival Queen Pageant will be held on July 4.
Last Sunday the eight contestants made their first public appearance at the opening of carnival following the official sashing ceremony last week. At the sashing the contestants learnt of their sponsors for whom they will be ambassadors in the weeks leading to the event. The eight contestants and their sponsors are Anya Edwin-Miss Piton, Francillia Austin – Miss Digicel, Denise Nelson – Miss Flow, Yvanna David – Miss Nagico Insurances, Bebiana Mangal – Miss Columbus Business Solutions, Khadija Mason – Miss Boka Group, Ayana Alexander – Miss Super J IGA and Laura Bruce – Miss Saint Lucia Tourist Board.
