For “Outrageous Sexy in Black 2016”, three big soca bands headed by Soca maestros will grace the stage at the Gaiety Grounds on Friday July 15 2016, as well as a slew of Saint Lucian and regional Soca acts. This week, 2Nite Magazine spotlights the first of these three bands.

Kes the band: It does not get any sexier and no Soca voice sweeter than that of Kees Diefenthaller the man leading the group Kes the band. And this year they are doing it for all their “people” once again.

Formed in Trinidad in 2005 the group’s musical style consists primarily of soca, influenced by calypso, dancehall and reggae, with tinges of pop and rock. The band consists of founding members Kees Dieffenthaller (lead vocals) brothers Hans Dieffenthaller (drums) and Jon Dieffenthaller (guitar) as well as Riad Boochoon (bass guitar). Noted for high energy live performances and the soulful voice of lead singer Kees, the group has captured the hearts of many and is now one of the most popular and sought after bands in the Caribbean and North America.

Additionally, the band has won numerous awards for songwriting; toured globally, performed at major festivals and events throughout the Caribbean, the United States and Germany; opened for acts such as Sean Paul, Musiq Soul Child, Usher, John Legend, and Rihanna; and had their music featured on television shows broadcast on MTV and BET, as well as licensed tracks to popular games on major video game platforms.
