The TJ Project for Outrageous Sexy In Black
This week 2nite Magazine presents the 2nd of the BIG 3 taking to the stage this year at “Outrageous Sexy in Black" brought to you by The Wave 94.5 and title sponsor Digicel. It is going down "Fantastic Friday" – Carnival Friday July 15, 2016.
The event will feature three big Soca bands and a number of Saint Lucian and regional Soca performers. Among the big bands is the TJ Project with Teddyson John as the frontline vocalist.
Teddyson John known in the music circles as simply TJ, has been involved in music as far back as he can remember. His first recording as a young boy was a song called “Sweeter,” a Gospel song. This was no coincidence since TJ grew up in a Christian household and in Church. His love for music deepened, surrounded by the likes of his brother Francis John – a jazz musician and other friends in the business. Not only did he grow up to establish himself as a powerhouse vocalist, but also an astute drummer. In 2007 TJ segued from Jazz and Gospel and delved into groovy Soca. The competition was held for the first time in Saint Lucia and TJ rose victorious with the song “Coming Down De Road.” He won the crown again in 2012 with “Land of Wine.”
The following year TJ put together his band the TJ Project in preparation for the launch of Love.Passion.Music- his very own concert and CD. The event was a major success –prompting his team to mark it as a signature event on Saint Lucia’s carnival calendar since then. The Love.Passion.Music movement has since morphed into U4RIA- TJ & the TJ project annual carnival concert.
For Outrageous Sexy in Black 2016 TJ will be bringing all the hits including his biggest to date- “Allez.”
Other hits include “Wine on me,” “Sweet Soca Music”, “Backa” as well as his two groovy soca winning songs among many others.
