DIGICEL JOINS THE WAVE RADIO STATION IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CANCER

St. Lucian men “in heels” to help promote cancer awareness

The Star (St. Lucia) - - LOCAL -

The month of October worldwide is dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness and Digicel St Lucia, in keeping with its Caring Connections mandate to assist with wellness and the alleviation of ailments in our communities, has decided to partner with The Wave Radio Station in promoting the awareness of cancer through the unique event dubbed “Men in Heels”.

Many great strides have been made in cancer awareness and treatment; however, there remains much to be accomplished. Digicel is committed and dedicated to educating and empowering persons to take charge of their health and to drive more awareness of this serious illness.

St Lucia's rhythm and soul, The Wave radio station stands firm as the catalyst for change. Recognizing the serious issue cancer has posed to the men and women of our society, The Wave has adopted the idea of its sister station Hott 93 in Trinidad of hosting an annual ‘Men In Heels' event to help shine the spotlight on cancer but with a special focus on cancer in men.

The Wave Country Manager, Sue Monplaisir, commented, “'I am extremely pleased Digicel has made the decision to come on board to assist The Wave in creating the necessary awareness of not just cancer in women but in men as well. Digicel has been a long standing partner of The Wave in helping out in our communities and I would like to thank them for their usual support”.

Digicel's Marketing and Public Relations Executive, Sergin John Baptiste said, “Helping to empower persons with the knowledge of the many cancers which exist, the importance of early screening as well as taking care of one's health is very important to Digicel. Partnering with The Wave to host this event will help drive the message home and emphasize its importance to the public.”

Digicel encourages the public to support the “Men in Heels” initiative and continues to play its part in creating awareness and highlighting the need for early detection of cancer in our society.

“Men in Heels” is scheduled for November 2nd 2014.
