The Ro­tary Club of Gros Islet was char­tered on 8th March 1993 and for over 20 years, its an­nual golf

tour­na­ment has been its main

fundraiser. Monies raised back into the com­mu­nity. The club de­pends on the good­will

and fi­nan­cial as­sis­tance of its mem­bers and the lo­cal

com­mu­nity to sur­vive. The

club is cur­rently in­volved in

many projects in­clud­ing: the Chil­dren’s Den­tal pro­gramme,

the Farm­ers As­sis­tance

pro­gramme, the School Feed­ing pro­gramme.

The ob­ject of Ro­tary is to foster ser­vice and good­will among its mem­bers; en­cour­age high eth­i­cal stan­dards in the

per­sonal and pro­fes­sional lives

of its mem­bers; pro­mote ser­vice above self; and good­will and peace through fel­low­ship in business.

Our team com­prises

per­sons from dif­fer­ent pro­fes­sions and ca­reers

in­clud­ing: Re­tail, In­surance, Jour­nal­ism, Bank­ing, Hos­pi­tal­ity, Phar­ma­ceu­ti­cals, Real Es­tate, Quan­tity Sur­vey­ing, En­gi­neer­ing and Law.

Ro­tary is about char­ity and

fel­low­ship. It is a di­verse group

of in­di­vid­u­als join­ing to­gether

to im­prove the lives of oth­ers in their lo­cal com­mu­nity and

ex­tend­ing as­sis­tance where pos­si­ble over­seas.

In July each year, a new

pres­i­dent is elected by the

mem­bers of the club. The cur­rent pres­i­dent, Ms. Judy Deter­ville, is in this po­si­tion for the sec­ond time in the club’s his­tory. Vice Pres­i­dent is Mr. Jonathan Everett; Trea­surer (and found­ing Pres­i­dent) Mr. Lisle Chase; Sec­re­tary Ms. Astrid Mon­de­sir; Pub­lic Re­la­tions Ms. Trudy O. Glas­gow; Sergeant At Arms Mr. Ian Har­ris; Mem­ber­ship De­vel­op­ment Mr. Joel Crocker; Club Ad­min­is­tra­tion Ms. Dahlia Garia; Ser­vice Projects Mr. Adrian Theobalds and Mr. Cor­nelius Si­donie; New Gen­er­a­tion Chair Mr. Joseph Do­lor, and Com­mu­nity Chair Ms. An­gela Clark.

The Ro­tary Club of Gros Islet’s an­nual golf tour­na­ment takes place on Satur­day, 8th Novem­ber 2014.
