The Rotary Club of Gros Islet was chartered on 8th March 1993 and for over 20 years, its annual golf
tournament has been its main
fundraiser. Monies raised back into the community. The club depends on the goodwill
and financial assistance of its members and the local
community to survive. The
club is currently involved in
many projects including: the Children’s Dental programme,
the Farmers Assistance
programme, the School Feeding programme.
The object of Rotary is to foster service and goodwill among its members; encourage high ethical standards in the
personal and professional lives
of its members; promote service above self; and goodwill and peace through fellowship in business.
Our team comprises
persons from different professions and careers
including: Retail, Insurance, Journalism, Banking, Hospitality, Pharmaceuticals, Real Estate, Quantity Surveying, Engineering and Law.
Rotary is about charity and
fellowship. It is a diverse group
of individuals joining together
to improve the lives of others in their local community and
extending assistance where possible overseas.
In July each year, a new
president is elected by the
members of the club. The current president, Ms. Judy Deterville, is in this position for the second time in the club’s history. Vice President is Mr. Jonathan Everett; Treasurer (and founding President) Mr. Lisle Chase; Secretary Ms. Astrid Mondesir; Public Relations Ms. Trudy O. Glasgow; Sergeant At Arms Mr. Ian Harris; Membership Development Mr. Joel Crocker; Club Administration Ms. Dahlia Garia; Service Projects Mr. Adrian Theobalds and Mr. Cornelius Sidonie; New Generation Chair Mr. Joseph Dolor, and Community Chair Ms. Angela Clark.
The Rotary Club of Gros Islet’s annual golf tournament takes place on Saturday, 8th November 2014.
