SMC Talfest Back!

The Star (St. Lucia) - - ENTERTAINMENT -

Talfest, the annual St. Mary’s College talent show and fundraiser is back! Now in its 12th year, this time the event promises to showcase more variety where the students’ creativity is concerned as well as presenting a wider pool of guest artistes.

Launched in 2002, the very first Talfest was initiated by then principal Fr. Linus Clovis and teachers Ted Sandiford and Fiona Wills. The event was later used as a fundraiser for the College’s sister school in Grenada that was ravaged by hurricane Ivan.

Since then Talfest has been used as one of the major fundraisers for St. Mary’s College and has been one of the school’s most successful activities.

This year Talfest is expected to showcase the young Samarians displaying their talent in signing, dance, drama and comedy. They will also stage a one-of-a-kind fashion show while a short film produced by the students will also be showcased.

The event will be held this evening (Saturday November 8) from 6pm at the National Cultural Center. Among the guest performers will be the reigning Soca monarch Ezra as well as Michael Robinson and Orion.

Proceeds from this year’s Talfest will go towards improving the school’s sports department. All past and present students are invited to turn out in support of this event.
