Marc­hand youth suc­cumbs to gun­shot wound

The Ma­jor Crimes Unit of the Royal Saint Lu­cia Po­lice Force is in­ves­ti­gat­ing the cir­cum­stances sur­round­ing the shoot­ing death of 18-yearold Cor­nelius Ed­win who is orig­i­nally of Ciceron but resided at Marc­hand.

On Mon­day Novem­ber 3, 2014 about 2:00 a.m., Ed­win was found un­re­spon­sive ly­ing on a flight of stairs near the Min­doo Phillip Park with an ap­par­ent in­jury to the head. He was trans­ported to Vic­to­ria Hos­pi­tal where he was ad­mit­ted.

About 10:20 a.m., on Wed­nes­day, Novem­ber 5, 2014 Ed­win suc­cumbed to his in­juries whilst in the In­ten­sive Care Unit of Vic­to­ria Hos­pi­tal.

A post mortem ex­am­i­na­tion was con­ducted on his body on Fri­day Novem­ber 7, 2014. The re­sults in­di­cate brain dam­age sec­ondary to a gun­shot wound to the head.

No one has been ar­rested in relation to this homi­cide.

Mean­while, of­fi­cers at­tached to the Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions Depart­ment are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the at­tempted mur­der of 34-year-old Jahvin “One Face” Roberts of Bexon.

It was re­ported that on Satur­day Novem­ber 8, 2014 about 11:15 p.m. Roberts was at Bexon when he be­came in­volved in an al­ter­ca­tion with a known in­di­vid­ual. As a re­sult, he sus­tained sev­eral cut­lass slashes about the body and was trans­ported to Vic­to­ria Hos­pi­tal where he was ad­mit­ted in a crit­i­cal con­di­tion and treated.

Of­fi­cers are pur­su­ing a sus­pect in this mat­ter.
