An Evening of Argentine Tango Music
Who can resist the captivating rhythm and magic of Argentine Tango? The Saint Lucia School of Music (SLSM) is proud to present local and internationally renowned artists in ‘An Evening of Argentine Tango Music’, the inaugural performance at its new northern concert hall.
This hotly anticipated event will commence at 7.30pm sharp on Saturday 29th November at the Golden Palm Event Centre, Alfiona Plaza in Rodney Heights (behind the Rodney Heights Super J supermarket).
The Evening will be presented by Argentinians Lorena Guillen on vocals and Alejandro Rutty, an awardwinning pianist, arranger and composer. Guest artists from the SLSM faculty include Marie Medina, Wagner Trindade, Richard Payne and Fernando Martinez Lopez.
Dr. Rutty is Associate Professor of Music Composition at the University of North Carolina. Guillen is a highly accomplished choral director who regularly presents lecture-recitals on tango-related topics. Her latest CD is entitled ‘Never Too Tango’. Both have toured and performed extensively spreading the delights of tango music to audiences world-wide. They are currently Artists in Residence at the SLSM.
This benefit concert will thrill the musical soul by offering an elegant blend of popular and “classical” styles, of traditional and new tango sounds, combining voice and instrumental forces in a variety of arrangements for voice, piano, guitar, violin, bass and percussion.
Admission is only EC$50 and seats are limited. Funds raised will benefit the outreach programmes of the SLSM. To purchase tickets, please contact the School on 452 2473 or at email@example.com. Patrons are asked to note that the dress code will be ‘elegantly casual’.
