Gang Warfare In Castries

The Star (St. Lucia) - - LOCAL -

Residents of Bois Patat, Morne Du Don are calling on authorities to step up their presence in the area after gang war has once again reared its ugly head there. In addition, the residents say that in the past month the number of robberies in the area has also increased and they feel helpless.

On Wednesday December 3, 35-year-old Ivor Hiliare of Bois Patat, Morne Du Don was shot in the area. It is alleged that four armed masked men fired shots in the direction of Hiliare, hitting him in the abdomen. He was subsequently transported to Victoria Hospital where he was treated and admitted.

One resident told the STAR that this is not an isolated incident and it is linked to ongoing fueds between gangs from Bois Patat/Morne Du Don and Wilton’s yard. The STAR has also been informed that Tuesday’s shooting is also linked to the torching of two vehicles in Bois Patat.

On Wednesday December 3, 2014 about 8:30 p.m., officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department received a report of arson at Bois Patat, Morne Du Don. On arrival, they observed that two vehicles were ablaze. The vehicles belonged to Bois Patat residents and were parked near each other.

No one has been arrested in relation to any of the incidents.
