Homicide at Soufriere
Officers attached to the Soufriere Police Station are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting of 34-year-old Claudius Dominique Alexander of Fond Beniere, Soufriere. The report was received about 11:50 p.m. on Saturday December 6, 2014.
It is alleged that a 73-year-old licensed firearm holder of Fond Beniere, Soufriere was doing a routine security check of his compound, as he had had two prior break-ins to his taxi omnibus during the course of a week. During that time, he observed a male entering his yard and walking towards his parked omnibus. The male used a key and gained entry to the locked vehicle.
It is also alleged that the licensed firearm holder fired a single gunshot in the direction of Alexander, hitting him. Alexander fled the scene and was later discovered lying on the road at Fond Beniere by a passerby who then summoned the police.
Alexander was transported to the Soufriere Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A post mortem examination is scheduled for a later date.
The licensed firearm holder is assisting police with investigations.
