SLP Gros Islet Group stages sports fi­esta and mu­sic fes­ti­val

Amu­sic fes­ti­val and a Sport Fi­esta are two events to be staged in Gros Islet this week­end by the Gros Islet Con­stituency group of the Saint Lu­cia Labour Party, as the group con­tin­ues its pro­gramme for De­cem­ber 2014. The new ac­tiv­i­ties, which are de­signed for fam­i­lies to en­joy to­gether, com­mence with a fun sports meet at the Gros Islet play­ing field on Satur­day 13th De­cem­ber in ob­ser­vance of Na­tional Day. The meet runs off at 10:00am and will in­volve fun events like: Egg Throw­ing Chal­lenge, Greasy Pole, Tug of War, Lime and Spoon, Sack, Wheel Bar­row and Three Legged races, in ad­di­tion to tra­di­tional sprint events. The meet caters for a va­ri­ety of age groups start­ing from Un­der 9 to un­der 16 and 40 and over. The sec­ond event- the Mu­sic Fes­ti­val takes place at the Grande Riv­iere Pri­mary School in Gros Islet on Sun­day 14th De­cem­ber from 2:30pm. Nine choirs from churches in the Gros Islet com­mu­nity as well as the Grande Riv­iere Pri­mary School, the Gros Islet Pri­mary School, Corinth Sec­ondary School and the Charles Cadet Youth Orches­tra from Anse La Raye will per­form. The pub­lic is in­vited.
