Belle Vue De­vel­op­ment Com­mit­tee to host Na­tional Drum­ming Fes­ti­val

In keep­ing with the thrust of so­lid­i­fy­ing Belle Vue’s im­age as the “Cul­tural Cap­i­tal of Saint Lu­cia”, the mem­bers of the Belle Vue De­vel­op­ment Com­mit­tee have or­ga­nized a na­tional drum­ming fes­ti­val to com­mem­o­rate Na­tional Day in Saint Lu­cia on the 13th of De­cem­ber, 2014. This first event of its kind, will be held at the Belle Vue Hu­man Re­source De­vel­op­ment Cen­tre from 6:30 pm. Avot Sevis, Har­mony Trio, Tam­boo Mele and Wan­j­man are the main drum­ming groups that will be fea­tured dur­ing this highly an­tic­i­pated drum­ming fes­ti­val.

In ad­di­tion to th­ese groups many solo drum­mers will per­form pieces us­ing the tra­di­tional drum. Other per­form­ing acts at the fes­ti­val in­clude: Mir­a­cle Dancers, No Limit Dancers, Belle Vue La Rose Group, Isla James’ Mod­els and po­ets from Vieux-Fort North and en­vi­rons. All are in­vited to be a part of what prom­ises to be a spec­tac­u­lar and grand oc­ca­sion. Per­sons are en­cour­aged to dress in na­tional colours when at­tend­ing the fes­ti­val, given that this event is held on Na­tional Day.

All funds raised at this ac­tiv­ity will be do­nated to Mr Al­bert An­toine of Grace, Vieux-Fort who is in ur­gent need of med­i­cal treat­ment. To im­ple­ment the drum­ming fes­ti­val or­ga­niz­ers have teamed up with the Min­istry of Cre­ative In­dus­tries and Moses Jn Bap­tiste who is the par­lia­men­tary rep­re­sen­ta­tive for Vieux-Fort North. Ac­cord­ingly, the min­istry is pro­vid­ing valu­able fund­ing for this event. Jn Bap­tiste, who is a drum­mer and cul­ture ac­tivist will serve as the artis­tic di­rec­tor for the fes­ti­val.

The show will be man­aged by Ken­dall Elva, pres­i­dent of the Belle Vue De­vel­op­ment Com­mit­tee and Miss Eleanor Joseph, pres­i­dent of the Vieux-Fort North Youth and Sports Coun­cil.
