Min­istry of So­cial Trans­for­ma­tion de­liv­ers Christ­mas Cheer

The Min­istry of So­cial Trans­for­ma­tion, Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment & Com­mu­nity Em­pow­er­ment is bring­ing gifts and good cheer this Christ­mas sea­son.

The Min­istry’s staff em­barked upon a se­ries of ham­per distri­bu­tions this week, blan­ket­ing sev­eral com­mu­ni­ties is­land-wide.

The do­na­tions were made pos­si­ble through con­tri­bu­tions from pri­vate sec­tor part­ners and with the ded­i­ca­tion of the So­cial Trans­for­ma­tion Of­fi­cers and Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment Coun­cils.

Cap­tain Dwayne Broome of the Sal­va­tion Army was part of the ex­pe­ri­ence and he shared th­ese words with re­cip­i­ents: “As our ket­tle sign says, ‘Shar­ing is Car­ing.’ Need has no sea­son. So we pray God’s bless­ings upon you as you en­joy your parcels.”

The Christ­mas treats ex­tended to the youth of the north and south were ap­pre­ci­ated by the ben­e­fi­cia­ries, es­pe­cially the chil­dren who were af­fected by the 2013 Christ­mas Eve trough.

Per­ma­nent Sec­re­tary in the Min­istry of So­cial Trans­for­ma­tion, Ms. Ju­liana Al­fred said, “We were quite happy when we were ap­proached by th­ese pri­vate sec­tor part­ners and the NGO com­mu­nity to bring some joy to th­ese chil­dren. Through­out the year, the Min­istry of So­cial Trans­for­ma­tion has been work­ing with th­ese chil­dren in our After-School and Re­turn to Hap­pi­ness Pro­grammes and now we are in­deed pleased to of­fer this Christ­mas treat.”

The Per­ma­nent Sec­re­tary ex­pressed sin­cere thanks to KFC, Rhythm FM, DBS and the Sal­va­tion Army for part­ner­ing with the Min­istry in ex­e­cut­ing the Toy Drive and Christ­mas treat for the vul­ner­a­ble youth.
