Ministry of Social Transformation delivers Christmas Cheer
The Ministry of Social Transformation, Local Government & Community Empowerment is bringing gifts and good cheer this Christmas season.
The Ministry’s staff embarked upon a series of hamper distributions this week, blanketing several communities island-wide.
The donations were made possible through contributions from private sector partners and with the dedication of the Social Transformation Officers and Local Government Councils.
Captain Dwayne Broome of the Salvation Army was part of the experience and he shared these words with recipients: “As our kettle sign says, ‘Sharing is Caring.’ Need has no season. So we pray God’s blessings upon you as you enjoy your parcels.”
The Christmas treats extended to the youth of the north and south were appreciated by the beneficiaries, especially the children who were affected by the 2013 Christmas Eve trough.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Social Transformation, Ms. Juliana Alfred said, “We were quite happy when we were approached by these private sector partners and the NGO community to bring some joy to these children. Throughout the year, the Ministry of Social Transformation has been working with these children in our After-School and Return to Happiness Programmes and now we are indeed pleased to offer this Christmas treat.”
The Permanent Secretary expressed sincere thanks to KFC, Rhythm FM, DBS and the Salvation Army for partnering with the Ministry in executing the Toy Drive and Christmas treat for the vulnerable youth.
