It is cold and horrid outside and you still have tons of work to do before you can finally kick back, gorge on turkey and enjoy Christmas.

To say that you are not in the best of festive spirits (unless you count the double whiskey you knocked back after the long day you just finished at the office) is putting it mildly. Unless, that is, you are one of those people who instantly click into Christmas mode the moment December first gets here and spend your days humming Christmas tunes while wandering around with a giant snowman on the front of your very ugly Christmas jumper. If you are not one of those people, you may need a little help channeling some Christmas spirit, below are eight things guaranteed to make you feel Christmassy right now. 1. Christmas Coffee Nothing quite says Christmas like your morning coffee, flavoured with gingerbread, peppermint, eggnog, caramel brulée, toffee nut or some other flavour that Starbucks Santa has decided to unleash during the festive period. 2. Christmas movies December is a time for Christmas movies, the cheesier the better. Getting through even half an hour of the most saccharine movie (most likely to be found on Christmas 24) will fill you with the need to start decorating your tree and writing out your Christmas cards. Give in to the urge. You know they are terrible, but in a kind of ‘so bad they are so good’ type of way. Plus, we won’t tell! 3. Writing Christmas cards Christmas is a time to put the keyboard down and pick up a pen.

Not only will writing your Christmas cards fill you with nostalgia for friends you have not seen in a while, it will also make you feel really good. There is nothing like spreading the festive cheer to all the people lucky enough to make your list. 4. Decorate your tree Once you have finished stressing out and wondering how your tree lights managed to get themselves in such a knotted mess over the last twelve months, take some time, grab a glass of wine and decorate your tree.

Having a twinkly festive beacon of fun taking up a significant portion of your living room will give you a much needed dose of Christmas. Also, Christmas trees are pretty. 5. Listen to Christmas music Singing along to festive hits or carols will have you feeling Christmassy in no time.

Whether you like your Christmas music in the shape of Mariah Carey blasting out All I Want For Christmas Is You, or something a bit more quirky like The Killers, Don’t Shoot Me Santa, there is something out there for everyone. 6. Secret Santa Sign up for your office Secret Santa. Getting someone a gift and knowing that they have no idea who it is from and also knowing that there is a gift in it for you too (who doesn’t like getting presents), is exciting and fun. 7. Put on a Christmas jumper They are ugly as sin and the epitome of everything that is not cool in a jumper (if jumpers were ever cool?) and some of them even have flashing lights. They do however, make you feel very Christmassy. 8. Watch Elf When all else fails, watch Elf. If Will Ferrell’s Buddy the Elf can’t fill you with Christmas cheer, you might just be a Grinch…

Even your coffee can be spiced up and decorated

this Christmas.
