Youth On Fire Goes All White

Youth on Fire Min­istry is a group of young­sters from Anse La Raye who use their limited re­sources and their im­mense tal­ents to in­spire, en­cour­age and en­lighten per­sons from their own com­mu­nity in the first in­stance and Saint Lu­cia as a whole. Over the years, the group has been heav­ily in­volved in the cre­ative arts mainly dance, mu­sic and a sort of nou­veau cul­tural theatre. Most of the mem­bers are teenagers and young adults and the group has per­formed at var­i­ous na­tional events as well as at the last CAR­IFESTA. Youth on Fire Min­istry has also hosted its own events in­clud­ing an all white gala cock­tail. The first was held last year as part of the tenth an­niver­sary cel­e­bra­tions and the group is pre­par­ing to host the event once again.

Youth on Fire Min­istry’s 11th an­niver­sary all white cock­tail will be held on Sun­day Fe­bru­ary 15 at the Anse La Raye Parish Hall from 7 pm. The STAR spoke to group mem­ber Ker­stin Medard about the event. “Last year was the first time we had this event and see­ing that it was suc­cess­ful we have de­cided to make it an an­nual af­fair and our sig­na­ture event,” Medard said. “The aim of this event is to raise funds for two of our main projects - an ed­u­ca­tion fund and ASAP which is our Af­ter School As­sis­tance Pro­gramme,” she added.
