Motorcross Excitement for Independence
The Saint Lucia Moto X Club will this weekend host two showings as part of the celebrations for Saint Lucia’s 36th Independence Anniversary. On Sunday February 22, Independence Day, the Club (the only one of its kind registered with the Ministry of Youth and Sports) will form part of the official activities in Vieux Fort. The Moto X Club has been invited by the office of the prime minister to stage a special showcase. The activity will be held opposite the Phillip Marcelin Ground in Vieux Fort from 1 pm. It will be preceded however, by the first leg of the club’s annual round the island ride, from Castries to Vieux Fort along the West Coast.
Then on Monday February 23, a national holiday, the Saint Lucia Moto X Club will be defending its title against clubs and riders from Martinique, Guadeloupe, Barbados and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
This event will feature competitions in three race classes-A,B,C. For the first time in the club’s history, ten junior riders will participate in the “Class C” category. This, the Saint Lucia Moto X Club says, is testimony of the growth and continuing potential of Motocross here in Saint Lucia, as a viable entertainment sporting event. The Club is thankful for the endorsement by the Government, for their participation in the National Independence activities as well as to sponsors Climax and DuBoulay’s Bottling Company Ltd.
