On Sun­day Fe­bru­ary 22 four-year-old Ter­rel Eli­box of Augier, Vieux Fort drowned at Bois Shadon Beach, Bean­field, Vieux Fort. On March 3, 33-year-old Sa­hab Jamshidi was charged for the of­fence of caus­ing his death by gross neg­li­gence or reck­less­ness. Jamshidi, a Canadian who stud­ied medicine here, was re­leased on bail set at EC $10,000. Sto­ries that the boy was snatched by Jamshidi, who was kite surf­ing, had been one of the rea­sons why he was first held for ques­tion­ing. How­ever Jamshidi’s ver­sion of events, as told through his mother to the Canadian me­dia, is that he no­ticed the boy drown­ing and at­tempted to help but the boy grabbed onto him caus­ing him to lose his bal­ance and the board to flip. Jamshidi is due back in court on April 24.
