CANADIAN NATIONAL CHARGED
On Sunday February 22 four-year-old Terrel Elibox of Augier, Vieux Fort drowned at Bois Shadon Beach, Beanfield, Vieux Fort. On March 3, 33-year-old Sahab Jamshidi was charged for the offence of causing his death by gross negligence or recklessness. Jamshidi, a Canadian who studied medicine here, was released on bail set at EC $10,000. Stories that the boy was snatched by Jamshidi, who was kite surfing, had been one of the reasons why he was first held for questioning. However Jamshidi’s version of events, as told through his mother to the Canadian media, is that he noticed the boy drowning and attempted to help but the boy grabbed onto him causing him to lose his balance and the board to flip. Jamshidi is due back in court on April 24.
