The Na­tional Work­ers Union (NWU) is at an ad­vanced stage of prepa­ra­tions for the 2015 An­nual Congress of Del­e­gates sched­uled for June 18, 2015 at the Rex St. Lu­cian Ho­tel.

Over one hun­dred and twenty del­e­gates from seventy branches of the Union will at­tend the pro­ceed­ings which will be con­vened un­der the theme “Con­sol­i­date for Sur­vival”.

The open­ing cer­e­mony will be ad­dressed by for­mer Prime Min­is­ter of Trinidad & Tobago, and for­mer Pres­i­dent Gen­eral of the All Trinidad Sugar, Fac­tory and Gen­eral Work­ers Trade Union, Bas­deo Pan­day and by Char­tered Ac­coun­tant Ge­of­frey De­vaux.

The closed ses­sion will re­ceive, dis­cuss and an­a­lyse re­ports on the op­er­a­tions of the or­ga­ni­za­tion on fi­nance, ne­go­ti­a­tions, mo­bil­i­sa­tion and griev­ance han­dling, the membership dis­count pro­gramme and ed­u­ca­tion and train­ing. The del­e­gates will also elect a new Cen­tral Com­mit­tee to run the af­fairs of the NWU for the 2015-2016 pe­riod.
