“Com­mit­ted to Broad­band and Open Ac­cess in a Dig­i­tal World.” That’s the theme for the 15th An­niver­sary of the Eastern Caribbean Telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions Author­ity - ECTEL.

The high­light of the ob­ser­vances for ECTEL’s 15th An­niver­sary will be a con­fer­ence on May 11–12, 2015 at the Bay Gar­dens Ho­tel in Rod­ney Bay, Gros Islet.

The event is be­ing or­gan­ised in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Min­istry of Sus­tain­able Devel­op­ment, En­ergy, Science and Tech­nol­ogy of Saint Lu­cia. Prime Min­is­ter Dr. Kenny An­thony will be the fea­ture speaker when the con­fer­ence opens on May 11.

Top­ics to be ad­dressed dur­ing the two-day event in­clude Broad­band Devel­op­ment in the Caribbean; Con­tri­bu­tions and Obligations of Ser­vice Providers to Broad­band and ICT poli­cies and plans; Re­gional Col­lab­o­ra­tion in Broad­band and Open Ac­cess; Broad­band and In­ter­net Neu­tral­ity and the vi­sion for ICT in the OECS. OECS min­is­ters as well as other re­gional and in­ter­na­tional telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions del­e­gates will at­tend. The Fif­teenth An­niver­sary Con­fer­ence co­in­cides with the ECTEL Coun­cil of Min­is­ters Meet­ing, slated for May 13.

ECTEL was es­tab­lished on May 4, 2000 by Treaty signed in St. Ge­orge’s, Gre­nada by the Gov­ern­ments of the Com­mon­wealth of Do­minica, Gre­nada, St Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lu­cia and St. Vin­cent and The Gre­nadines. ECTEL is the reg­u­lat­ing body for telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions in its Mem­ber States and the world’s only multi-state telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions reg­u­la­tor.
