ECTEL TURNS FIFTEEN - CELEBRATES WITH COMMITMENT TO BROADBAND AND OPEN ACCESS
“Committed to Broadband and Open Access in a Digital World.” That’s the theme for the 15th Anniversary of the Eastern Caribbean Telecommunications Authority - ECTEL.
The highlight of the observances for ECTEL’s 15th Anniversary will be a conference on May 11–12, 2015 at the Bay Gardens Hotel in Rodney Bay, Gros Islet.
The event is being organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Energy, Science and Technology of Saint Lucia. Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony will be the feature speaker when the conference opens on May 11.
Topics to be addressed during the two-day event include Broadband Development in the Caribbean; Contributions and Obligations of Service Providers to Broadband and ICT policies and plans; Regional Collaboration in Broadband and Open Access; Broadband and Internet Neutrality and the vision for ICT in the OECS. OECS ministers as well as other regional and international telecommunications delegates will attend. The Fifteenth Anniversary Conference coincides with the ECTEL Council of Ministers Meeting, slated for May 13.
ECTEL was established on May 4, 2000 by Treaty signed in St. George’s, Grenada by the Governments of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, St Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia and St. Vincent and The Grenadines. ECTEL is the regulating body for telecommunications in its Member States and the world’s only multi-state telecommunications regulator.
