Sus­pected drug dis­cov­ered in aban­doned ve­hi­cle

On Wed­nes­day, May 20, 2015 about 9:45 p.m. of­fi­cers at­tached to the Gros-Islet Po­lice Sta­tion were no­ti­fied of a parked Toy­ota om­nibus, reg­is­tra­tion num­ber TX 284 sus­pected of con­tain­ing con­tra­band/il­licit sub­stance on the com­pound of the Rod­ney Bay Ma­rina sit­u­ate in Gros-Islet.

Upon ar­rival, the of­fi­cers no­ticed that the ve­hi­cle was un­oc­cu­pied. Ev­ery ef­fort to iden­tify the owner or driver proved fu­tile.

Con­se­quently, a search of the said ve­hi­cle was con­ducted in the pres­ence of a Jus­tice of the Peace.

As a re­sult of the search, the of­fi­cers dis­cov­ered nine rec­tan­gu­lar blocks sus­pected to be co­caine. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing into the mat­ter.
