Doddy Francis on Castries South Constiuency Candidate Selection

The Star (St. Lucia) - - LOCAL -

morning of Friday 22nd May 2015, that I, Lorenzo ‘Doddy’ Francis had been ‘defeated by Ms. Mary Issac having participated in a run-off for the Castries South constituency.’

It is imperative and fitting to note at this time that I, Lorenzo ‘Doddy’ Francis was not present at any apparent ‘run-off’ and was unaware of the farce which is being purported as a candidate selection process. As such, to label the event as a ‘win’ or ‘defeat’ for any of the parties involved is ludicrous and whimsical.

Inadvertently, but to the benefit of the Party, this situation has prompted the reexamination of the ‘candidate selection process’, and as a unified political entity, we intend to correct evident flaws in this process whereby seeming representatives are selected in the absence of other contesting candidates.

I wish also to publicly and categorically affirm my commitment to my constituents and the United Workers Party. It is the duty of an elected official to improve the lives of individuals through service by providing quality representation and opportunities for mobility within the national community. I, Lorenzo ‘Doddy’ Francis, remain committed and ready to serve.”
